The Territory

Oil is a child of the place where it is born. Ours speaks of Montemiletto, Campania.

Campania

A land made
for the olive.

The hills of Montemiletto have always been olive country. A landscape shaped by human hands and time, where every tree finds its own balance between sun, wind and soil.

This is where our Ravece cultivar expresses itself at its finest, giving life to an oil that is distinctive and inseparably bound to its territory.

At around 460 metres above sea level, deep in the Irpinia inland hills (climatic zone E), the olive groves experience warm, dry summers - with highs around 29 °C - and cold winters. The marked temperature range between day and night slows the ripening of the olives, concentrating aromas and polyphenols.

The cultivar

Ravece.

Ravece is a cultivar endemic to Irpinia: documented as far back as 1517, it grows almost exclusively in the province of Avellino, within a narrow strip of inland hills between the Valle dell'Ufita and the Media Valle del Calore - the very land of Montemiletto. Beyond that boundary, it virtually disappears. This geographical exclusivity makes it a bastion of olive biodiversity of national significance, recognised by the DOP Irpinia Colline dell'Ufita since 2009.

The oil it produces has an unmistakable character: intense fruitiness with clear notes of unripe tomato, artichoke and green pepper, a decisive yet balanced bitterness and pungency, underpinned by an exceptionally high polyphenol content. It is not an oil for every palate - but those who discover it rarely forget it. Making it known and appreciated in Italy and around the world is our challenge, and our reason for being.
